ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 19, 2025 – The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) applauded the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Howard Lutnick yesterday as Secretary of Commerce and vowed to work with him to ensure a fair and open trading system for U.S. agriculture.
“American agriculture is the most competitive and productive in the world, but our success depends on fair access to global markets,” said Mike Seyfert, NGFA’s President and CEO. “Secretary Lutnick’s leadership will be critical in holding our trading partners accountable, ensuring they live up to their commitments, and eliminating unfair trade barriers that harm U.S. agribusinesses.”
The Department of Commerce plays a key role in enforcing trade agreements, promoting economic growth, and ensuring that American businesses can compete on a level playing field. NGFA supports policies that expand market access, reduce trade distortions, and protect the integrity of U.S. trade agreements.
“NGFA is eager to work with Secretary Lutnick to advance trade policies that benefit the entire U.S. grain, feed, and export supply chain,” Seyfert added. “We urge the administration to continue pursuing deals that expand market opportunities and uphold the principles of fair trade.”
