NGFA supports Howard Lutnick for Secretary of Commerce

The following statement of support was submitted to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation on Weds., Jan. 29 in support of Howard Lutnick, President Donald Trump’s nominee to be U.S. Secretary of Commerce:

The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA)  supports the nomination of Howard Lutnick to serve as the next U.S. Secretary of Commerce. Throughout his career, Mr. Lutnick has demonstrated a deep understanding of global markets, a commitment to American economic leadership, and the ability to navigate complex trade and financial landscapes.

As the U.S. agricultural sector relies on fair and open trade, we need a leader at the Department of Commerce who will ensure a level playing field for U.S. agriculture and agribusiness and push back against unfair barriers to trade that disadvantage U.S. agriculture and the grain and feed industry. Mr. Lutnick’s experience in international finance and market dynamics positions him well to advocate for policies that protect American interests while fostering economic growth.

We are confident that under his leadership, the Commerce Department will prioritize strong, enforceable trade agreements, and champion policies that support the competitiveness of American agriculture on the world stage. The NGFA urges the Senate to confirm Mr. Lutnick swiftly so he can get to work ensuring that U.S. trade policy benefits American agriculture, agribusinesses, and consumers.
