ARLINGTON, Va., March 19, 2025 – The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) today applauded the National Agricultural Statistics Service’s (NASS) decision to reinstate select data collection programs and reports.
In April 2024, NASS announced its intention to discontinue the county estimates for crops and livestock, citing budget concerns. Many NGFA members use county estimates to build supply and demand estimates, which help determine commodity sourcing plans to keep their facilities operational. This action results from a nearly yearlong effort on NGFA members’ behalf, with multiple outreaches to Congress and the administration.
“Recognizing the importance of this data to our members, we made reinstating these reports a legislative and policy priority,” said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. “We applaud and appreciate the support received from Congress, Secretary Rollins, and the administration to reinstate the accessibility of this critical data and will advocate for its continued funding.”
